Programming Track Managers

Job icon

Programming is looking for Track Managers for our Fan Interest track, as well as for our Workshops Track.

Track Managers are the members of Arisia Programming Staff who are responsible for the creation and assignment of panels for all four days of the convention. Potential track managers should be able to make decisions in a timely manner, communicate comfortably via email, real-time chat, slack, etc., multitask with relative ease, and work well within a team structure. Because this kind of work can get complex, having two co-managers, or a manager with an assistant is an option.

General duties of a Track Manager are as follows:

Pre-Convention:

Propose and develop panels for the upcoming Arisia convention from brainstorming (including online panel submissions), commonly-run panels, and ideas from Guests of Honor. This also includes coming up with your own panels.

  • Write descriptions of the panels to be viewed by potential panelists and, later, by attendees.
  • Assign panelists based on interest and fit with the topic and panel.
  • Schedule the panels using the Grid Schedule in Zambia, Arisia’s scheduling tool.
  • Work with staff to identify and resolve scheduling and other conflicts and make necessary changes.
  • Work with Programming staff to select potential panelists from the general panelist pool, as well as recruit new panelists and/or staff to participate in the convention.
  • Use Zambia, Arisia’s scheduling tool, for panel creation, panelist assignment, and scheduling. (We will train.)
  • Communicate openly with other Programming Staff and Programming Management about changes or potential issues that may arise.

At the Convention:

  • Work a yet-to-be-determined minimum number of volunteer hours in Programming Nexus during convention hours.
  • Communicate openly with other Programming Staff and Programming Management about changes or potential issues that arise.

At-con, Data entry, Pre-con, Training provided
